The client
Sustainable Buildings Group (SBG), a part of WSP, advise on energy saving measures and compliance with Building Regulations, BREEAM and energy efficient design of buildings.

The brief
Create a web-based report system to give SBG the ability to complete energy assessments and send their clients a completed report.

The solution
We created a on-line system that allowed SBG to complete and store assessments and send completed reports in PDF format to their clients. Key features of the system include:

• ability to manage clients, contacts and completed/uncompleted reports;
• on-screen question guidance to aid consultants completeing reports;
• ability to save partially completed reports with ‘to do’ list of unanswered questions;
• weighted answer values and automatic assessment pass/fail calculation;
• export completed reports in PDF format.

The technical bit

• ASP Classic (VB Script);
• MySQL 5 database;
• Multi-user client and administrator level logins;
• Dynamic PDF document creation using ASP PDF component;
• Google Maps integration with automatic postcode location.
